Empty containers can serve as the home for Triops but there are certain substrates that you can use for raising Triops. These little creatures love to dig and if you put substrate inside the container, you can satisfy their needs. This is not the only reason for putting substrate inside the container or tank. Eggs can be buried deep into the substrate and so other Triops will not be able to feed on the eggs. This will mean more Triops for you since the eggs can hatch.
Sand, gravel, and even coral sand are among the great substrate options for you. Coral sand is the moist ideal since it can also raise the water’s pH level.
Soil can be used as substrate if you like but according to studies, Triops can survive with or without substrate.
