The safest water to use for hatching is de-ionized or distilled water. By using this type of water, you can make sure that the mineral or chemical content of the water can’t affect hatching and bacterial spikes can be avoided. You see, the leading death cause among hatchlings is the bacterial spikes. After this period, you can already use tap water, spring, or continue with the distilled water. For tap water, you will need to use water conditioner so that chlorine is removed.
The water conditioner should be able to remove the ammonia, chloramines, and chlorine contained in tap water.
